REMINDER!!!

We’re updating our SingleQuots Kits with color caps!

To better serve you, we are in the process of color-coding the vials in our SingleQuots Kits. The components themselves have NOT changed, only the color of their caps. This will take ~3 months to complete. During this time, you may receive some vials within a SingleQuots Kit with new cap colors and some with the standard red cap. When all of the SingleQuots Kits are converted, each component within a kit will have a uniquely colored cap for easier identification.

AmnioChrome and LymphoChrome

Cambrex BioScience Verviers offers two types in-house produced Cytogenetics media. The AmnioChrome series are three types of media for the cultivation of amniocytes for the prenatal screening of inherited or chromosomal disorders. AmnioChrome II consists of a basal medium and a frozen supplement whereas AmnioChrome Plus and AmnioChrome Pro are ready-for-use media. All media have proven to be an astounding success in the European market and are of excellent quality. The market leader is Invitrogen with their AmnioMax range, but Cambrex in Europe is at a solid 2nd place. Most customers use both Invitrogen and Cambrex media to avoid too much dependence on either supplier because of the importance of the application. Recently, we have seen a move from customers using AmnioChrome II to AmnioChrome Plus and Pro because of the ease of use. When you have interested customers, we would suggest offering either the Plus or the Pro version.

Cambrex Verviers will supply you with product for sampling upon request.

LymphoChrome is a serum free formulation for the cultivation of T-lymphocytes in the diagnostic procedure of analyzing chromosomal disorders after birth (postnatal). Traditionally, customers have been using various classical media, supplemented with serum and PHA (Phaeto Haem Agglutinin) to stimulate T-cell growth. The use of serum and the preparation and storage of the medium make this procedure a tedious one. End-users need to test each batch of medium for performance, and since the batches of serum vary, the outcome of the results very just as much. It is here where the use of serum free formulations is a big advantage. No more testing, since batch after batch will behave the same in the customer’s hands. The formulation has been optimized for cell growth and chromosome banding and length.

LymphoChrome is available in a 5 ml tube format (10 tubes in a box) and a 100 ml bottle format, all frozen. Please see also the attached flier. Below are the part numbers. Please contact Kelly Neff or myself with questions and/or pricing requests.

★Product update:

(1), Gel clot update: We have been working on converting our current 0.06 EU/ml sensitivity gel clot formulation to the formulation used to make the 0.03 EU/ml gel clot products. We expect very shortly a letter from the U.S. FDA giving us the approval to sell the new formulation of the 0.06 EU/ml gel clot 50-test vial. This means we will be discontinuing the current N184-06, N284-06, N406, N288-06, and other bulks containing E209-06 (the "old" gel clot formulation). A Dear Customer letter (attached) provides the replacement part numbers and an explanation of any revalidation requirements. Please distribute the letter to your gel clot customers.

(2),WinKQCL Version 2.00: As of 01 Jan 2007, WinKQCL Version 2.00 will no longer be available for sale. There are a few copies of the software and manual in our inventory in Walkersville. If you want copies before they are discontinued officially, please order them now. We will not make any more once the inventory is depleted.

★NEW Sera Brochure- attached to this newsletter

· Serum, South American and Australian origin:

· Cambrex BioScience is aiming to supply serum, South American and Australian origin to our worldwide distributors via its Verviers, Belgium site.

o These sera are available both as F-size (500 ml) and E-size (100 ml). All sera are tested for a wide variety of characteristics, including cell proliferation and viral characteristics. Please also see the included COA of a batch of 14-801F. The South American serum will be available has a premium serum (low Endotoxin) part code 14-801F and a regular serum 14-802 F-size. The Australian serum will be available in 2 flavors, being Bovine Fetal serum 14-701F and Calf serum 14-417F.

· Background:

o The serum market to date is still growing considerably. The market is split into Pharma/Biotech and Academic customers. USDA approved country of origin serum (US, Australian and New-Zealand origin) are mainly used and requested by Biotech/Pharma whereas the South American sera are used in academic centers because of their attractive cost. However, in the case of sera, the actual cost has no relation to the quality. Cells will grow on both sera, but the growth rate and cell characteristic vary from batch to batch independent of the origin. Because of the demand, USDA approved country of origin sera are expensive to source, which increases end-user prices. With recent BSE cases in the US, it has been increasingly difficult to export US origin serum, which on its turn had a price-increasing effect as well.
